Research Interests: Tuberculosis infection in foreign-born transplant recipients living in the US.
Personal Biography: Carmen J. Sierra is a transplant patient subject matter expert. She spent most of her nursing career caring for transplant patients in different stages of their health. Her nursing experience has facilitated many opportunities; the latest is working in the bio-diagnostic arena of infectious diseases. She plans on bridging her transplant experience with infectious diseases for many of her future research endeavors. Carmen is also an international marathon runner and triathlete. However, she has placed her running shoes and gear away for the moment as she concentrates on her studies. In the meantime, yoga and meditation keep her grounded and balanced. Carmen aspires to progress as a global tuberculosis expert and nurse-scientist after completing her studies. She will continue her nursing journey in yet another opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives.
