Personal Biography: Evelyn Iriarte, MSN, RN, is a PhD student at the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies and a clinical assistant professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Originally from that country, she received her bachelor's and master's degree in Nursing from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. She is nationally certified in adult nursing, and she is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau, Beta Tau chapter, and the Chilean Health Nursing Network for Older People. Mrs. Iriarte conducts research on geriatric care, HIV prevention, and self-management focused on older community-dwelling Hispanics. Her areas of interest are firmly rooted in her clinical work as a nurse in Chile and her experience working as a research assistant in various funded studies in Chile and the U.S. She continually strives to expand her research knowledge and skills to improve nurses at a disciplinary and research level to benefit her target population. She anticipates her scholarly work to advance HIV care among geriatric and minority groups and empower nursing through research. Her motivation is developing self-management strategies to combat the frailty burden and improve the quality of life of older Hispanics living with HIV. Ms. Iriarte is also looking to continue contributing to this undeveloped research line once she returns to her country.
