Professional Biography: Jazmin Ramirez BSN, RN is deeply passionate about improving the quality of care provided to patients from the Neonatal ICU and their families and reducing health disparities for this vulnerable population. She was introduced to this field at the University of Miami where she graduated with her BSN in 2016. During her time at UM she was a scholar of the Minority Health and Health Disparities Research Training Program (MHRT) where she participated in research regarding Hypertension and Frailty Syndrome. This experience ignited her desire to pursue advanced training in research. After graduating, she began her NICU clinical work as a registered nurse at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital . She then moved across the country to Washington state where she worked in a Special Care Unit at Swedish Medical Center. This medical center functioned as part of a program with the mission of joining term and preterm infants suffering from neonatal abstinence syndrome and their birth mothers with substance abuse. In 2019, she began working in the NICU at Holtz Children’s Hospital in Miami, FL where much of the patient population comes from underserved communities. Through her doctoral program at UM she hopes to remove barriers in the quality of care provided to NICU patients and their families and improve health outcomes.
