Personal Biography: Sophia O. Thomas pursued her undergraduate nursing education in India and has practiced as a nurse since 2005. During undergraduate studies, she was fascinated with the childbearing family and thus, she obtained an MSN in Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing from India in 2009. Her graduate research focused on determining if maternal knowledge related to antenatal care influenced their beliefs and practices. Ms. Thomas pursued a Master of Management in 2018 from New Zealand where her research focused on acculturation experiences of International students. During her academic tenure, she was primarily involved in organizing curricular and extracurricular activities for both the undergraduate and graduate nursing students and organizing and conducting conferences at the national level. She has presented papers at national and international conferences. Her passion for teaching led her to be employed as a nurse educator and she has taught and guided research at the undergraduate and graduate levels. She is a member of the Nursing Research Society of India and the Trained Nurses Association of India. She has worked as a duty manager in New Zealand. She now intends to pursue her Ph.D. at UM to refine her research skills, expand the body of professional knowledge and sharpen her critical thinking.
