Nursing science is one of the most exciting fields of study today. As a PhD student at the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies you will work with leading nurse scientists to begin to develop a program of research in one of the following areas: Health Disparities-Minority Health, HIV/AIDS; Maternal-Child, Family Health; and Patient Safety, Infectious Diseases.
Miami’s multi-ethnic population base and the school’s close affiliation with the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, the University of Miami Hospital, and the Jackson Health System offer unique opportunities for collaborative research.
The School offers two options leading to the Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) in Nursing Science, the BSN-to-PhD and Master's-to-PhD. Our plan of study is currently under revision to incorporate a greater focus on health equity, but both options will continue to require two years of coursework followed by a dissertation.
